STVDIO channel launch

Frost* Design has created the identity for the STVDIO – a just launched arts channel created by SBS for subscription TV providers, PAN TV.

In designing the STVDIO logo, Frost* looked at ways to represent both the arts-driven content of the channel as well as the platform through which it comes to life.

In fact, it was the process of creating the identity that defined the very name of the channel itself.
The result is a logo that embeds one element within the other, thus creating a single word moniker for the new channel – STVDIO.

The logo and brand name substitutes a V for the U, a common practice on Renaissance stonework and a reference to the rich artistic legacy of this time.

“The challenge was staying true to the brand and getting people to see art in a whole new light – we managed to quite literally communicate the central role TV plays by incorporating it into the logo itself, ” says creative director Vince Frost.

The logo is designed to create a strong on-air identity and to identify the nature of the day’s programming, which is dedicated to a different artistic discipline each day of the week.
