Victoria's biennial Premier's Design Awards, held as part of the annual State of Design Festival, is coming up again.
The award seeks to highlight exemplar initiatives in and from Victoria where design has been used effectively, sustainably and strategically to innovate, increase productivity or boost competitiveness and exports for the country.
Previous winner include Full Tank (2006) and Rosalea Monacella & Craig Douglas (2008)
Unlike previous years there will only be one category - the Premier’s Design Award. Design initiatives created between 1 April 2008 and 1 April 2010 will be shortlisted into a pool of up to ten finalists and then passed on to a second round judging panel. Up to five finalists will be selected and for an award and both the commissioning organisation and designer(s) will be presented with the award.
The awards aim to promote the economic, environmental and social benefits of investing in good design and will be reflected in rewarding works that demonstrate the application of original, sustainable, innovative and groundbreaking design.
Commissioned by the Victorian Government, the Premier's Design Awards are just one of 75 events forming the State Of Design festival. The three other main programs for the event are the Design Capital Business Seminar Series, the Design for Everyone Public & Cultural Program and the Design:Made:Trade Industry Program.
