In a move close to the hearts of many in the creative industry, in a campaign by Sapient Nitro for Drambuie, is the chance to design, set up and run your dream bar at a secret waterfront site in Sydney.
The Premise offers a $10,000 cash prize, bar staff, security, alcohol supplies, bar equipment and facilities for the winning bar to trade on nine nights over a three week period. The secret location will be revealed on September 16 with the one clue leaked by organisers being the two words, "harbour views".
Inspired by Drambuie's core values – risk, rebellion and mystery – participants are invited to design their own to be judged by some of the industry's best. The secret venue has a capacity of 120 and is poised for transformation into one of Sydney's hottest locations with grand scale promotion.
Participants are to film and upload a short, two-minute video, demonstrating their concept/idea. The public will vote online for their favourite bar with the five highest voted entries and five wildcards becoming finalists. The ten finalists will then pitch their ideas to The Premise judging panel. The panel includes Clint Hillery (owner - Time to Vino), George Livissianis (interior architect – LiviStudio), Sacha Delfosse (editor - Bars&Clubs Magazine), Loretta Godfrey (Director - The Event Suite), Matthew Thurlow (senior brand manager - McWilliam’s Wines Group Ltd), and Scot Waterhouse, associate creative director – SapientNitro.
The 2010 winners were industrial designer, Rob Dumaresq and musician, Hugh Gurney. Their speakeasy style concept impressed the panel, the bar set behind the facade of a pet shop, called The Doghouse.
Dumaresq said the experience had given them the chance to explore their creativity in ways they had never done before. "The entire experience was exciting and stimulating and at every step of the way we were developing fresh ideas, learning new skills and meeting new people - an unforgettable experience," he said.
Entries to The Premise are now open with accompanying social media campaigns. Entries close at midnight on September 12 with the winner announced on Friday, September 29. The winner will be flown to Sydney to work with The Drambuie production team to bring the winning concept to life for three weeks in October.

Branded content is here to stay, that is for sure. So what does that mean for designers? Having a sponsor on board means that you have to create composite logos, which is quite challenging; essentially you need to create a logo that holds another logo.
