Perth photographer Steve Wise has been announced 2010 Epson AIPP Western Australian Professional Photographer of the Year (‘WAPPY’) at an award dinner held at City West Function Centre in West Perth.
The Awards are held annually by the Western Australian division of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP).
Competing against more than 86 of the state’s best photographers who submitted a total of 139 folios, Wise walked away with more than $2000 for his work. In addition to the Professional Photographer of the Year award, he was also awarded the 2010 AIPP Western Australian Wedding Photographer of the Year.
The works will be on display in a free exhibition to the public which kicks off today (August 30) through to Saturday September 11 in Perth.
Award categories included portrait, landscape, commercial, illustrative, and wedding photography. There are additional categories for Student Photographer of the Year as well as an Emerging Photographer Award.
The judging process including visiting photographers Adam Finch (Brisbane), Kylie Lyons (New South Wales), Ian van der Wolde (Victoria) and Andrew and Robyn Campbell (Victoria).
