Australia's top architects and designers are battling it out to build the most creative kids' cubby house to raise money for Kids Under Cover.
Melbourne Premier Ted Baillieu, who has a degree in architecture, is on one of the design teams. Others include teams from Channel 7's Better Homes and Gardens, Stonehaven Homes, Burbank and Smith Madden with Harris HMC.
The Cubby House Challenge is an annual competition at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show. It raises money and awareness for the Kids Under Cover charity for homeless young people.
Five one-of-a-kind cubbies – one by each team – will be made and auctioned at the show.
Jo Swift, Kids Undercover CEO, said this year's event should be the biggest yet.
“Having the Premier on board, as well as the ongoing support of the Master Builders Association and our other participants, means that 2012 will be the biggest year for the Cubby House Challenge, so we're able to attract even more attention to the ongoing issue of youth homelessness.”
