In a cross-cultural collaboration, The Glue Society, Sydney has conceived and directed the latest music video for Lithuania’s slaughterhouse music act, Metal On Metal.
The band, who are signed with Skint Records in the United Kingdom, originate from Vilnius, Lithuania and since 2005 have been winning awards for their provocative DJ performances.
For its latest single ‘Bastard’, the music act challenged The Glue Society to write and direct a high end clip, which lived up to the provocative title 'Bastard'.
Of the first collaborative project with Revolver, Glue Society director, Matt Devine - who also filmed the recent 42 Below art film project – says: “I reckon the spot is bastard-ish enough.
The guys gave us the ultimate gift - absolute creative freedom to interpret their music. In the end what has happened is the film lifts the track and the track lifts the film – so we reckon it’s been a great long-distance marriage.”
For Matt Devine, the film, which turns table tennis into a twisted blood sport for a wealthy elite, also marks a revival in the video clip genre.
“YouTube is every bit the new MTV. So record companies are quickly gaining a new-found interest in higher quality and more experimental video clips. It’s good news for film-makers and musicians alike.”
