Sixty40 work on SPAA Fringe Conference

For the third year running, Sixty40 has worked on the annual SPAA Fringe Conference promotional film, producing an insight into the strength of collaboration.

Utilising its animation skills and character development, Sixty40 has created a spot that specifically focuses on one aspect of what SPAA Fringe has to offer: the new online portal The Melting Pot.

SPAA Fringe is a two day conference from October 16 – 17 at the FOXTEL Television Centre North Ryde. It offers opportunities for up and coming filmmakers (be they producers, directors or screenwriters etc) to access industry professionals.

Leading keynote speakers from Australia and abroad are part of the program that also involves initiatives including One-on-One’s where delegates have 15 minutes to pitch an idea to commissioning editors from Foxtel, ABC and SBS.

New this year is The Melting Pot an online portal where filmmakers can collaborate, network and discuss screen projects. Delegates can post their projects to attract resources, investment, marketing opportunities and likeminded peers for collaboration.

To promote the conference, Sixty40 have created what first appears to be a beautiful old-school stop motion plasticine blob tale, but soon spirals into an epic saga highlighting the power to be found in collaboration.

When four separate blobs of plasticine get busy together, they form one super plasticine monster that terrorises the city and unapologetically devours all in its path.

This is in sharp contrast to the film Sixty40 created last year that followed the path of one hard working puppet, desperate to break into the screen industry.

With help from his good friend and fellow filmmaker Nash Edgerton, our puppet discovered SPAA Fringe and all the opportunities offered to him as part of the conference.
