NBN Co has released a series of 90 second Explainer ads created by Sixty40 to clarify the National Broadband Network for consumers.
Using concise messaging with simple narrative, the spots use information graphics and animated characters aimed at engaging and educating audiences about the facts regarding the network.
Aimed at an audience who is possibly already supportive of the benefits of the controversial network the ads aim to give the consumers a small nudge to be convinced.
Sixty40's director, Matt Taylor said they used regular Australian guys and girls represented by simple animated characters.
“We used them in everyday NBN situations to engage the viewer and demonstrate how the network would be useful to them,” he said. “We then matched the information graphics with light entertainment so the viewer could effortlessly watch and digest the information.”
Director Mark Simpson said the series had to deliver complex information.
“It had to be in a way that was understandable to a huge demographic as well as detailed enough not to cause confusion or ambiguity,” he said. “It’s a great challenge combining those two dimensions while keeping it entertaining, verging on funny.”
