Sixty40 creates 3D animation for cinema

Sixty40 was briefed by Ogilvy & Mather to animate two 15-second cinema spots to promote American Express card offerings.

Sixty40 was the first company outside Addadog (Kuntzel & Deygas) in France to be asked to extend the established handmade, cut-out 2D style into a delicious 3D animation for cinema.

The first spot, "Helicopter" takes inspiration from massive flyover shots, from movies such as Cliffhanger, to reveal a group of letters living their dream of heli-skiing in the Alps by utilising the power of the American Express Platinum Series.

"Dandelion" reveals hundreds of tiny airplanes being blown dislodged from a field of dandelion flowers.

In one continuous camera move the cinema spots sees audiences travel from a grassy paddock, into a subtly choreographed release of travelling airplanes then out to show people watching in Gold Class seats in the cinema.

Created at 2k resolution and combined with Dolby Surround Sound the aim of the spot is to create a big cinematic feeling.
