Revolver directors were awarded three of Australia’s six medals (two gold and one silver) in the Film and Film Craft Lions at the 2010 Cannes International Film Festival.
A Gold was awarded for WWF ‘Space Monkey', directed by Revolver’s Steve Rogers, to Leo Burnett Sydney. The music video for Ben Lee’s single ‘Divine Mother Of The Universe’ was created to highlight the devastating impact the human race could have on the planet, unless a more meaningful, healthier and sustainable way of life is adopted to help preserve its future.
The video follows the journey of a chimpanzee launched into space as part of a space exploration program. In a dramatic twist, the chimp returns to earth after floating in space for 65 years. Sadly, the earth he returns to is nothing like the one he left.
Rogers was also awarded a Gold Film Lion at the 2009 Cannes International Film Festival for James Boag’s ‘Pure Waters’.
A Silver Film Craft Lion went to Noam Murro for his direction of Boag’s Pure for Publicis Mojo Sydney.
A Gold Film Lion was also awarded for VB ‘The Regulars’, directed by The Glue Society, to Droga 5 in Sydney. Filmed in Ballarat with a cast of 1500, it features a march of comical archetypal Aussie men, include: “Blokes punching above their weight” and “Guys who peaked in high school”, among others.
