The new campaign for the Grampians region – ‘Spring into the Grampians’ - features original artwork painted in the 1930s by James Northfield - a celebrated commercial artist of the 20th century in Australia.
Recognised for his ability to capture the natural beauty of the Australian landscape, Northfield painted these images of the Grampians during spring some 80 years ago for one of the region’s first tourism campaigns.
The main poster features wildflowers set against mountains – which is a key focal point of the 2010 ‘Spring into the Grampian’ tourism campaign.
Grampians Tourism marketing manager Kylie Schurmann said, "Who would’ve thought a tourism poster from the 1930s would get another run in 2010! But Northfield’s timeless paintings perfectly capture the atmosphere of colour and light in the Grampians during spring. I guess some things just never go out of fashion!”
‘Spring into the Grampians’ will tempt visitors this spring with stunning natural wonders, invigorating outdoor pursuits and an array of special events - from wildflower shows to photography tours.
The advertisements will appear in a range of travel and lifestyle publications and radio programs, and will be promoted online through social media channels such as the official Grampians Facebook page.
A special website has been developed for the campaign, housing a comprehensive event calendar and accommodation guide and other helpful information to assist travellers in planning a holiday to the region.
