Resin making veggies cool for Disney

Animation and visual effects house Resin recently completed a series of spots for US production company The Ebeling Group (TEG) and Disney XD.

With the somewhat ambitious brief of making fruit and vegetables cool within the demographic of 7-11 year old boys, the Adelaide-based studio rose to the challenge designing and animating a series of edible characters that surf, slap, shred and bounce.

Creative director with Resin, Grant Lovering said the characters needed to be fun but not too young.
"What we came up with has a bit of attitude and the celery just makes you laugh he's cool," he said.

Exectutive producer, Lincoln Wogan said they were delighted with their first Disney promo picking up a silver at the recent Promax Awards.
"To be collaborating with TEG is huge," he said. "These guys are in the top echelon internationally so it's continually a scratch yourself moment for us. We are enjoying working with other directors and also getting a chance to do our own thing on the right projects."

The promotional spots are part of a broader Disney initiative to encourage a healthier diet and lifestyle in children.
