Former Australian of the Year and tennis star Pat Rafter has signed a three year deal to be the face of Mantra Hotels, Resorts and Apartments as part of a new campaign by Clemenger BBDO Brisbane.
Airing from July 10 featuring TV, radio, print, digital and PR elements, the campaign aims to show travel in a realistic light and dismiss pre-conceived notions that business travel is so different from holiday travel.
Ken Minnikin, marketing director for Mantra, said business travel was not as glamarous as non-corporate travellers might expect and that both sectors deserved the best experience available.
"When our guests are travelling for business they miss their family. When they are travelling for leisure, they want their family to be comfortable and entertained," he said.
Mantra Hotels believed Rafter was an easy choice for the role, due to his consistent likeability and well travelled past.
"Pat Rafter was the logical face for our campaign as a highly successful businessman and sportsperson who travels extensively, but also has particularly strong family values," Minnikin said.
The TVCs were filmed on location at Mantra on Salt Beach Resort Gold Coast, and Mantra 2 Bond Street Sydney.
