Qantas Spirit Of Youth Awards

The Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards (SOYA), an award for best emerging artists, designers, and creatives, has officially opened registrations to young achievers wanting to boost their careers with a mentorship and grants program.

Talented Australians aged 30 and under across seven creative fields -- fashion, film, visual arts, visual communications, music, industrial and object design and photography -- are invited to submit their work for a chance to receive $5,000 in financial support and $5,000 in Qantas flights, as well as a 12-month mentorship with international creative community leaders.

In 2010, SOY's line-up of mentors include; Marc Newson (Design), Nicky and Simone Zimmermann (Fashion), Jan Chapman (Film), Tony Mott (Photography), Lee Groves (Music), Elizabeth Ann Macgregor (Visual Arts) and Deanne Cheuk (Visual Communication).

SOYA is open for submissions until August 9, 2010, with all submissions to be made through the website www.soya.com.au.

The winners will be announced at a award night held on November 11, 2010, at the Foundation Hall of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney.
