Sony Australia hopes to bring football fans closer to their heroes with a new TVC starring Qantas Socceroos Tim Cahill and Lucas Neill.
Sony has also announced captain of the Australian national team Neill, alongside Cahill, as brand ambassadors for the company.
“The 2010 FIFA World Cup™ in South Africa is the first World Cup to be broadcast in HD in Australia and is widely predicted to be the most popular ever,” said Ruben Lawrence, strategic partnerships manager, Sony Australia.
“Sony makes technologies that allow fans to believe in the magic of the game by both capturing and watching football – all in amazing quality. These technologies not only bring you closer to the action on the pitch, but also closer to the raw emotions of the players and other fans in the stadium,” says Lawrence.
“The advertisement, which was shot in Sydney, Australia and Liverpool, England, shows the pride, desire and passion of the Qantas Socceroos as they prepare for a big match. The Australian fans following the stars get so close that they can ‘feel what they feel’, physically and emotionally, echoing the experience they get with Sony products.”
The TVC has been on air since January 2010 on SBS and will run through to the FIFA World Cup™ Final in July 2010.
Sony is an Official Partner of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association).
Sony Australia is the Official Consumer Electronics Supplier to the Football Federation Australia (FFA) and its National teams and is also an Official Partner of the SBS broadcast of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.
