Created by M&C Saatchi Sports & Entertainment on behalf of Qantas, the Boots & Dreams campaign took the actual playing boots of leading Indigenous players from each of the AFL clubs and gave them to a number of indigenous artists who transformed each pair into painted works of art.
Each pair, by artists out of Queensland-based Indigenous organisation, Gilimbaa, comprises a unique depiction using inspiration arising from the player's heritage, his club, AFL achievements and personal characteristics.
The boots are currently in an exhibition that was launched in Melbourne's Federation Square on May 22, 2010.
The Qantas Boots & Dreams exhibition can also be experienced online at afl.com.au/qantasboots.
The boots will be auctioned in the lead in to the AFL grand final in September with all proceeds donated to the AFL Foundation to help support Indigenous communities.
