Oz magazine re-releases most famous covers

Richard Neville, editor of Oz magazine has selected his favourite covers from the lifetime of the legendary undergound mag for limited print release.

Oz shook up 1960s Australia and then went to London repeating the process. In this era of flower power and Beatlemania, Oz shot to fame for its sparkling irreverence, satire, court cases and the mind-stretching art of Martin Sharp.

Each cover has been digitally enhanced, printed on archival quality, acid free paper and signed by Neville and Sharp. The witty, provocative and often psychedelic covers have lost little of their freshness and relevance over the last fifty years when they first captured the issues of the day.

Many of the more memorable covers are available including the Jumping Jack Flash Mick Jagger, a psychedelic Mona Lisa and the breathtaking Magic Theatre wrap-around, with its mystic quote from Herman Hesse - "Nothing to lose but your mind" pictured here.

In the works are plans to release famous images and pages from within the magazine although no master exhibition has been announced as yet.
