Nylon Studio's Pocket Fest 2011 a success

The inaugural Pocket Fest 2011 short film festival launched in Los Angeles last week at the Pacific Design Centre's Silver Screen Theatre. Premiering eleven short films, each was shot exclusively with the Kodak PlayTouch video camera.

Directors screened were Bob Industries' Harry Cocciolo, B-Reel Film's The Colony, City Film's Kevin Donovan, Foundation Content's Focus Creeps, Gartner's Ted Melfi, Harvest Films' The Hoffman Brothers, Independent Media's Tom Foley, Insomniac Content’s Mel Rodriguez, Superfad's Justin Leibow, Tool of North America’s Matt Ogens and Workhorse Media’s Angela + Ithyle.

The brainchild of boutique music and sound design studio, Sydney/New York-based Nylon Studios, the festival also challenged participants to also include the Pocket Fest signature item - binoculars.

Nylon Studios founder Mark Beckhaus said they had been blown away by the talent pool of each of the deirectors.
"Together with the incredible work our composers, Pocket Fest 2011 was an overwhelming success," he said. "We're looking now to 2012 and where the festival might go."

Intrinsically involved is festival partner Inner-City Filmmakers. The organisation has been providing free industry education for disadvantaged youth for 15 years and students from ICF were pivotal in every aspect of the festival.
