M&C Saatchi Melbourne and Plaza Films have produced a 140 second viral commercial for ANZ Bank to promote more convenient banking. The spot depicts the frustrations small business owners can experience when their bank is understaffed and they cannot contact their bank manager.

ANZ now have a small business banker in almost every branch. There are accompanying 45s & 30s TV spots.

  • This is not a viral, it is a video on the net. It is way too long and the idea is too tied up in being true to the brand. With every anz worker pushing this through their face book this stinker still wouldn't move.

  • FUNNY THING!!!! My bank manager from NAB apologized to me just last week. Totally unsolicited... She apologized for "being hard to get a hold of"... It's making the other banks nervous!
    Michael on 16-Sep-09 02:49 PM

  • I agree with Dan- it's way too long to be a viral!
    Sam on 28-Aug-09 04:41 PM

  • Too long, but really nicely done. And yeah where's the email to a friend or share this on twitter link? Liked the ad, but suspect it would have cost a packet and not sure that fact works in favour of a bank in these harder financial times

  • Bev, I'm not Nick Robbo, but I am also hot. My point about viral commercials is it's the audience that decides whether it's viral, not the agency (or the client). It's a nice director's cut though
    Nick on 26-Aug-09 01:25 PM

  • not a viral.. can't tease your audienc for 1:40 for a cheap reveal... Viral is about entertainment not puns and reveals... you have to say something with your viral.
Dan Ilic on 26-Aug-09 12:02 PM

  • Great work from Plaza...doing some hot work...brave clients always helps...sure the Nick above is not Nick Robbo...cause he is hot...although I dare say Nick know's viral...is that you Robbo?

  • It's a neat idea, but too long and never a viral :(

  • It's a great commercial, well executed, but unfortunately, it's a whole lot of spin. I am a small business owner and my dealings with the ANZ do not reflect what the ad is saying.
    Tony on 25-Aug-09 11:21 AM

  • Very entertaining, I can tell it is not cheap, a good idea but it didn't end well, I believe the fact that ANZ is not a very 'likeable' bank it makes the story hard to believe. I would like to pass it around but I do not know how.
    Silvia on 25-Aug-09 09:50 AM

  • This ad is not viral material. Its a great piece for the production companies reel. lucky them!
    B.H on 24-Aug-09 11:10 PM

  • Yes, a good ad. But unfortunately don't think it has what it takes to become viral. If they spent that much on production values perhaps they should cough up for a good media buy so the money doesn't go to waste.
    Jamie on 24-Aug-09 08:21 PM

  • it makes sense only to business owners. People who deal with banks. Not for your average joe. It made me feel interested cause my bank manager is VERY HARD to get a hold of. I mean, really hard.
    Michael on 24-Aug-09 04:57 PM

  • Haha.. very entertaining- cannot believe it's for ANZ though
    Shack on 24-Aug-09 03:35 PM

  • If this is a viral, so where is the Email to a friend link?
    Adriana on 24-Aug-09 01:42 PM

  • Nick, viral commercial is the same as a viral email i.e. people can send it around and forward it to their friends. I think the ad is hilarious! love it!
    Tori on 24-Aug-09 01:27 PM

  • what a great ad! very well done
    bob on 24-Aug-09 01:20 PM

  • Looks like a Rexona 'Stunt City' homage, even looks like it was shot in the same Millers Point locations. But not as clean or thrilling camera work nor are the stunts.
    Sash on 24-Aug-09 01:16 PM

  • That's a lot of time (and money) spent showing us what ANZ are not. It intrigued me enough to want to watch it to the end but not send it on.
    Sally on 24-Aug-09 01:01 PM

  • What on earth is a 'viral commercial'?
    Nick on 24-Aug-09 12:32 PM

  • High production values but why spend all this money and why will people send this around... maybe they should just lower their bank fees instead of spending all that money..
