New video installation by Daniel Askill

Daniel Askill has recently directed two video installations, entitled Triptych and Transforming, for German architectural and design brand, Dornbracht.

Produced by Sydney-based film and design house, Collider, the videos were shot on location at Sydney’s Fox Studios in late December 2009.

Askill, who has previously directed projects for brands such as Dior, BMW, X:box and Renault, has created a series of films, each demonstrating the relationship between the human body and water.

The films feature two models, including Richard Cilli, principal dancer with the Sydney Dance Company.

The technical shoot involved the use of the 360 degree stills camera rig used in films such as The Matrix, as well as the use of the Phantom V10, a high-speed HD camera that Askill used to film at speeds of up to 1,000 frames per second.

Collider worked with Brainstorm Club, a creative collective based in Munich, and Meire und Meire, the Cologne-based creative agency responsible for Dornbracht’s marketing and branding.

Helmed by creative director, Mike Meire, Meire und Meire aims to break the rules of conventional marketing by creating unique campaigns for its clients.

Askill says: "This was a very special project in that the creative agency, Germany’s Meire und Meire, were not interested in making a 'commercial' in the traditional sense, but instead commissioned us to create a piece of art. To this end we were given complete creative freedom to create the video installations, and it became a very unique and fulfilling collaboration."
