30,000 people go missing each year, which is why the Australian Federal Police promote National Missing Persons Week.
As part of this year’s promotion, film production company Screencraft was appointed to produce four short vignettes for broadcast on Foxtel and a 60 second CSA.
The small crew of five people travelled to many parts of Australia, including King Island to get real stories with four families who have members go missing.
The mission for the campaign was to gain an insight into the families of missing people, understanding their feelings and their heartache.
Screencraft director Michael Fardell felt it was important to use a minimal crew and equipment for the shoot to ensure that the families felt comfortable with sharing a piece of their life with us.
"There was a lot of bang made for ones buck on this. The scope went beyond just the production of a 30 spot and we had to think how we could get more for the dollar.
"So, we included in the shooting schedule the filming of interviews for the vignettes. For a very limited budget, we produced four vignettes in HD for Foxtel, filmed in four separate locations and cut 2 versions of the spot," he said.
The music was an important part of the pieces, crafted by Rob Steel of XNY
The campaign is airing now nationally.
