International kudos for Parallax Design

Graphic design firm Parallax Design has been named ‘In-Book’ at the Designers and Art Directors (D&AD) awards in London.

Parallax Design’s entry – in the Brochure and Catalogue category – was selected from over 20,000 entries from around the globe.

The South Australian designer's winning entry, a sustainability report for printing company Finsbury Green, showcased the printing firm’s business practice in environmental sustainability.

Based on the premise of ‘making green normal, one page at a time’, each page was tinted green, becoming heavier at two per cent increments per spread, gradually turning the report from white to green.

The report stood out for its originality, strength of idea and strong visual impact.

Parallax design creative director Matthew Remphrey said that achieving In-Book at the D&AD awards is an honour.

“D&AD sets industry standards around the globe, so we are very proud to be named In-Book,” Remphrey said.

“The award recognises both imagination and technical application within our industry, so to have our design named as one of the best in the world is very exciting.”

As well as the international recognition and benchmarking that comes with the award, In-Book entries are featured in the D&AD Annual, which showcases the best works in 2010 from across the world. The Annual will be published in October.

The win comes not long after success at the Adelaide Advertising & Design Club (AADC) awards in March, where Parallax Design was awarded two gongs in the packaging and typography categories for its design of Bleasdale’s Double Take wine label.
