2012 is shaping up to be an important year for AGDA NSW – with a little help from Interbrand Sydney.
Following criticism last year that the Australian Graphic Design Association NSW lacked purpose, vision and relevance, 2012 has seen the introduction of a new president, a new council and a new direction.
Interbrand's objective was to give AGDA NSW a strong, relevant and inspiring voice.
Ben Miles, associate design director at Interbrand, said the organisation was repositioned locally as 'AGDA NEW' to signify change.
“Working with the council, we built the year's calendar of events around a simple, yet poignant and engaging idea,” he said. “Placing AGDA NEW at the centre of the design debate, we began talking to our industry about our industry. We devised a language-based campaign that is sometimes provocative, sometimes playful, sometimes profound.”
A calendar of events has been launched, which kicked off with a Beer O'Clock event at The Local Taphouse in Darlinghurst, Sydney, where creatives got together to share ideas.
AGDA NSW president Glen Barry said the council is excited about the new vision for AGDA NSW.
“We are excited to launch what we feel is a really strong year of inspiring events for our members,” he said.
