Hotel Nest’s new website, designed by Ennis & Perry Creative, combinines tactile collages sourced from recycled vintage paper and records and quirky illustrations with a customised and easily managed back end, the new website invites existing and new customers of Hotel Nest to experience the venue in a different way.
Three years after opening, Hotel Nest had firmly established itself as a social hub of Melbourne’s south side, providing a range of customer experiences from a place to catch up with friends for a casual drink or meal through to holding events, such as weddings and birthdays.
Hotel Nest wanted its website to reflect this and commissioned Ennis & Perry, who were responsible for the original brand identity, environmental graphics and web communications, to update its online presence.
Michelle Matthews, Hotel Nest’s owner, gave a simple brief – interaction, self-managed, user friendly and social.
With this clear directive, Ennis & Perry responded by creating an online extension of Hotel Nest.
The new hotel website features functionality with social media integration and design elements.
Ennis & Perry creative director Anne Mason, said: “The surreal world we created for Hotel Nest, was conceptually based on The World of Nest. We created fantasy creatures and whimsical scenes where English gentleman ride goats while drinking beer, ladies fly on birds and tea cup clouds grow mushrooms.”
The custom-built content management system allows for easy control of online booking and purchasing, enquiries and SMS notifications. As Hotel Nest is a popular venue for functions, Ennis & Perry created a user-friendly ‘event suggestion’ feature, that allows browsers to enter in criteria, producing a recommendation for one of Hotel Nest’s spaces.
With the use of social integration, users can send postcards to friends, book online, sign up for SMS notifications, set up private events and send invites to friend as well as link to Hotel Nest’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
