Directed by filmmaker Erin White, a TVC for short film festival Flickerfest 2010 was recently launched. The spot revisits the 70's with a nostalgic and comic ode to Saturday Night Fever.

Four-time AFI nominated and IF Award-winning director White will join Verve Films in 2010 for commercial representation.

The only Australian Academy® accredited short film competition, Flickerfest kicks off the summer cinema season outdoors under the stars at Bondi Beach, from January 8 to 17, 2010.

White was invited to direct the 2010 Flickerfest TVC after winning the Flickerfest Audience Award for her short film fOUR in 2008.

White attracted Australian talent to the TVC, including television’s Don Hany (Underbelly, East West 101, False Witness) and Sea Patrol’s Saskia Burmeister.

“Working with actors like Don and Saskia is the best part of my job. I adore actors and I’d worked with Don on my film fOUR and knew he has great comic abilities on top of what we know of him as a wonderful dramatic actor," he said.

"Saskia is just gorgeous both as an actor and a person and we all knew that she and Don would have the right chemistry. They were so incredibly generous with their talents and their time. They even rehearsed for days so that they could get the dancing just right. It was great to work with them on something so fun and tongue-in-cheek."

Carolyn Starkey from Verve Films says White has an extraordinary talent for comedy direction: “Her timing is perfect and her comedic characters are hysterical."

"In Erin’s latest film fOUR, which was her graduating AFTRS film, the comedy is larger than life – it’s set in the wife swapping suburbs of the 70’s. Like all great comedy the film has familiar human truths. Erin’s achievement in art direction, wardrobe and visual effects is monumental," says Starkey.

As well as winning the Flickerfest Audience Award, her short film fOUR was selected to screen at the G’day USA RADAR Showcase in Los Angeles.

In 2008 fOUR won the IF Award for Best Short Film; Outstanding Filmmaker Award at the prestigious Hatchfest Festival in Bozeman Montana; as well as the SMPTE Collaborative Award for excellence in Visual Effects.

It was nominated for two AFI Awards for Best Short Film and Best Screenplay in a Short Film.
