Father of the ringtone speaks at X|Media|Lab

X|Media|Lab ‘Global Media Ideas’, a one-day international summit centred on innovation with the digital and entertainment industry, has lined up speakers from Google, Apple, Yahoo!, the Oprah Winfrey Network, HBO, Zomba and Mobile Entertainment Forum.

X|Media|Lab ‘Global Media Ideas’ will be held at the Sydney Opera House on Friday, June 18, 2010, as part of Vivid Sydney (27 May – 21 June), the annual festival of music, light and ideas featuring the illumination of the Sydney Opera House sails.

X|Media|Lab ‘Global Media Ideas’ brings together many of the digital industry’s powerbrokers including Ralph Simon.

Dubbed the ‘father of the ring tone’, Simon and his team created and developed the first ring tones in the USA, Europe, Africa and Australia in 1998.

His career has seen him become the mobile strategy advisor to U2; work with Sir Bob Geldof, Bono and the Live Aid organisation and he is currently the mobile producer of the 2010 World Cup "Celebration” music event in Johannesburg.

X|Media|Lab ‘Global Media Ideas’ will explore cultural and commercial content in a global world; creative ideas and innovation in media and technology; international media business opportunities; new media and new geographies; and new platforms, applications and content.

Confirmed speakers also include Amin Zoufonoun – director of corporate development at Google, Robert Tercek – president, digital media at the Oprah Winfrey Network (Los Angeles), John Penney – executive vice president, strategy and business development, Starz, LLC (Los Angeles), and Dana Al Salem, Founder – Fanshake (London, Paris).

‘Global Media’ Ideas consists of two parts: the Conference Day on June 18 (general admission), followed by the Lab (June 19 – June 20) during which selected digital media businesses and project teams work one-on-one with the international speakers.
