Ellie Awards recognising film, TV and commercial talent

Behind-the-scenes stars of the Australian television and film industry were recognised at the annual Ellie Awards event in Sydney this week.

The Australian Screen Editors Guild gongs were held at The Vanguard in Sydney with television commercials editor Sue Schweikert from Film Graphics among those inducted as ASE members.

Schweikert is one of Australia's leading editors with thousands of commercials under her belt including  McDonald's James Dean,  AXA's Crocodile Tears  and the Australian Tourism Commission's Les Murray spot.

Editor Scott Gray, who has worked on commercials, short films, music videos and TV documentaries, was also inducted as an ASE member. The third inductee was film editor Matt Villa, who is currently editing Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby in 3D.

Winners of the Ellie Awards included Bernard Garry, who won Best Editing in a Commercial for NAB's 3-year-olds and Martin Connor, who won Best Editing in Television Drama for Spirited.
