Droga5 and V Australia's new campaign a tad cheeky

V Australia and Droga5 have created a Facebook application, ‘One way Ticket’, to promote V Australia’s one-way specials.

The application allows you to scour your database of friends and nominate Frienemies*, and encourage other people to nominate them too.

The 10 Frienemies who receive the most nominations win free V Australia flights to Los Angeles, Phuket or Johannesburg… one-way.

Since launching quietly last week, ‘One way Ticket’ has already received a response in the Facebook community, with more than 14,863 users nominating their ‘Frienemies’ for exile.

Fans of V Australia on Facebook rose from 1,900 on Monday 23 October to close to 12,000 within one week, demonstrating the campaign’s effectiveness in raising V Australia’s profile within the social networking community overall.

"At first glance, the brief for a one-way ticket offer seemed a strange one, given most people like to come home at some point, but we realised that a lot of young travellers like to play their travel plans by ear and see where the road takes them. From there, using Facebook as our media made a lot of sense, and the Frienemies concept was born," says David Nobay, creative chairman at Droga5.

The campaign follows V Australia and Droga5’s recent 4320LA and 4320SYD campaigns, which gave six friends the challenge of sending 4,320 Tweets in 72 hours while sightseeing in Sydney and Los Angeles.

*NB. A ‘Frienemy’ [Frie•ne•my] is a person you consider to be a combination of 'friend' and 'enemy'; or a 'friend' who has become an 'enemy' by doing something unforgivable or irritating.

Nominations close on November 24, 2009. Winners will be announced on December 3.
