Curious has released five new works by Ash Bolland, finalist at last week’s Shots New Directors Award.
Bolland has just finished a global campaign for Viva music channel in Germany, created in conjunction with directors from around the world.
Viva asked Bolland to direct five graphic sanguine films – Crash, Fire, Space, Window and Crystal – which depict Viva in thousands of permutations, capturing the feeling of being ‘young at heart’.
The first TVC, "Fire", is about capturing the feeling that anything is possible when young at heart.
In "Crash", the film depicts the raw passion of a young couple’s lust. A girl hurtles herself towards a young man, colliding in a detailed explosion of smoke and rock shards.
"The brief called for five strong, films that are confident, beautiful, and capture the feeling of young adulthood, so I tried to choose simple bold ideas that will stay with you after the clip is finished," says Bolland.
The director was a finalist at the Shots New Director Award with his spots for MTV, "Genetically Modified HD", which communicated MTV Europe’s new HD channel by virtue of its detail and complexity.
