Corbis has announced it will be hosting an exhibition of the winning photographic works from the Corbis Creatives Behind the Lens competition at 1000 £ Bend, Melbourne.
Melbourne advertising & design professionals, Andrew Ashton – director and designer at Studio Pip & Co, Simon Bagnasco - art director at GPY&R, Andre Elhay – copywriter at Spinach and Paul Hermes – art director at Lifelounge Group, are among the entrants selected for exhibition at the Corbis / D&AD ‘Creatives Behind the Lens’ showcase, which aims to reveal the hidden photographic talents of Australia’s creative industry.
The ‘Creatives Behind the Lens’ exhibition celebrates creativity by encouraging the diverse talents of people who work in the creative industries, but who are not professional photographers.
Andrew, Simon, Andre & Paul, along with 35 other non-professional photographers, were selected for this touring exhibition from almost 500 entries.
The winners were all noted for their creativity and distinction and were judged at a live session over three rounds by a professional panel that included Vince Frost, founder & creative director of Frost* Design, Julian Melhuish, creative director at Saatchi Design, Alasdair Foster, director for the Australian Centre for Photography, Marc Gafen, editor Capture Magazine, and Bryson Holt, art buyer, DDB.
The Melbourne exhibition will be showcased at 1000 £ Bend on the night of Thursday, 6 May. The exhibition has already been on display at The Museum of Contemporary Arts in Sydney where it launched late last year.
The Creatives Behind the Lens competition invited non-professional photographers working in the creative industries to submit their personal photography to be judged by an expert jury. The competition is supported by several prominent industry partners, including D&AD, Campaign Brief and Group Momentum.
“Having personally launched this competition with D&AD in the UK, I am thrilled to have brought what is now a prestigious, large-scale annual event to Australia. The quality of work submitted in the inaugural year was amazing and we are absolutely thrilled to be able to invite and share this exhibition with Melbourne’s creatives,” said Amy Timbrell, director for Corbis in Australia.
“The talents of Australian creatives really are diverse. We’re proud to provide a platform to showcase these talents and the inspirational photography they are producing outside of their day jobs. The exhibition is a great way to support and celebrate the award-winning creative talent here in Australia and to salute their personal photographic prowess.”
Creatives wishing to attend the event can RSVP to 1000 £ Bend, Melbourne on Thursday, May 6 by emailing cbtl@corbis.com
