An ad by Showpony Advertising for Coopers Brewery has been announced as the December/January winner of the Could Be a Caxton competition.
The comp was established by the Caxton Committee and is supported by The Newspaper Works to recognise great creativity on a bi-monthly basis.
Nancy Hartley, joint creative director of SapientNitro and the judge of the December/January competition, said: “The Coopers Ultralight ad wins this round for me. Simple, clear and it made me smile," she said.
"Highly commended goes to Oreo for Santa’s Place Mat. Neat little interactive newspaper idea, spot on for the brand. And I was nearly swayed by The Boxing Day Test ad for TAC - one of the better topical ads in the mix. Maybe I should have been judging with a Coopers Ultralight in hand, rather than a sav blanc,” Hartley adds.
Other judges for the 2010 Could Be a Caxtons were:
Ben Welsh – Executive Creative Director, M&C Saatchi Sydney
Ron Mather – Founder, It’s The Thought Melbourne
Julia Elton-Bott – Art Director, Marketforce Perth
Shaun Branagan – Creative Director, AdPartners Sydney
Chris Pearce – Copywriter, Clemenger Sydney
The February/March Could Be a Caxton competition is now open for entries. It’s free to enter and anyone can submit nominations.
The copywriter and art director responsible for the newspaper campaign judged best of the year’s Could Be a Caxton bi-monthly winning ads, will score an all expenses-paid trip to the 2010 Caxton Awards.
