Three Drunk Monkeys recently won Gold at the Clio Awards, held in New York, for its innovative Sun Sound initiative for Cancer Council NSW.
Sun Sound snared the Gold in the Content & Contact category. The Monkeys' co-founder and executive creative director Justin Drape was in New York along with the creative team of Nick Morrissey and Scott Dettrick to accept the award.
Three Drunk Monkeys created the Sun Sound, a five-second musical sting reminding Australians participating in outdoor activities to protect themselves from the sun, in response to a brief from Cancer Council NSW to remind people of the dangers of prolonged sun exposure.
The Sun Sound, launched on beaches in December 2009, is now also being played at schools, sports grounds, public pools and parks.
The Sun Sound is also shortlisted at the New York Festivals, along with the Monkeys’ “Moon week” and “Eat up Brain” campaign for BBC Knowledge. The New York Festivals will announce winners at an awards ceremony in Shanghai, China on June 11, 2010.
