Jonathan Key, an 18 year-old student at Sydney's CATC (Commercial Arts Training College) has been selected for one of two worldwide month-long mentorships created by iStockphoto.
The Feast initiative was established by iStockphoto as a new online community for creatives providing inspiration from designers, photographers, directors, writers, marketing professionals and received over 25,000 applications upon launching.
Selected from a global pool of 300 applications, Jonathan will be working directly with iStockphoto’s creative cirector, James Leal-Valias to meet a creative brief - The Big Idea. The entire process including drafts and feedback will available at the Feast website.
Between two and four protégés will be selected for a month long public mentorship on a specific topic. Each month, a different topic, relating to the essential theme of Creating a Better World will be chosen as the central creative challenge.
Key is still studying full-time, has his own graphic design label, Design is Key, and is working on the launch of his t-shirt label Jayki .
Leal-Valias said that when creatives from different disciplines intermingle, strange and wonderful things happened.
"In today's world it is crucial to keep your skills sharp," he said. "Feast acts as a catalyst, re-energising people around their artistic talents and those of others."
