Carlton Draught's chase win

They've done it again. Carlton Draught's latest commercial is hilarious,  so clever you wish you'd done it (more than anything you've ever wished in your life) and does its job of making you want a beer. Not one of these ingredients is new. Beer Chase follows in the footsteps of Slow Mo, Flashbeer and Big Ad. Less than a week after its online release, it had already ticked up more than 1.5 million views.

The parody commercial was created by Clemenger BBDO Melbourne and contains everything – classic chase (albeit on foot. You can't drink and drive, can you?), cops and robbers, a spate of movie cliches and a cheesy 1980s soundtrack.

Quote of the year goes to Andrew Meldrum, general manager marketing for Carlton – for all the right reasons, “At Carlton, we believe that beer ads should be fun.”

The 90 second spot launched online today before its television release during the AFL and NRL football finals on Seven and Nine, Friday 7th September.  The tvc will then be shown  on both free to air and pay TV,  skewed to programmes that appeal to men aged 18-54, as well as in movies that feature great chase scenes.

Credits include: Clemenger BBDO Melbourne executive creative director,  Ant Keogh;
copywriter, Richard Williams and art director,  Anthony Phillips. Director, Steve Ayson for production company, The Sweet Shop.  Production company executive producer, Wilf Sweetland.

Cutting through the creative smog

It's still about big ideas. One of the big ideas now is where and how you present yours.
