The trophy is a literal translation of the value of creative ideas, in line with PADC’s (Perth Advertising & Design Club) aim to reenergizing the PADC Awards and making them more relevant and coveted by local creatives.
“I wanted to create a trophy that was so striking there was an added incentive to winning one. The PADC Awards are all about thinking and creativity, so a brain chromed in gold seemed like a visually arresting way of expressing the power of ideas,” says Mark Braddock, Creative Director at Block, and creator of the PADC Skull.
PADC has overhauled its award categories and entry criteria to reflect the current advertising climate and cement the Award’s role in fostering creativity in Perth.
“Most Award trophies are fairly unimaginative, so the PADC Committee felt it was important to introduce a trophy that distinguishes PADC from other shows and gives it its own sense of identity and pride,” says Andrew Tinning, creative director of Marketforce and current President of PADC.
The 2009 PADC Skulls will be awarded on Friday 23 October in the following categories: Design, Print, Outdoor, Radio, Film, Digital & Interactive, Integration, Advertising and Design Craft.
This year’s PADC Awards call-for-entries close in three week’s time, on 28 August.
