Big Kahuna makes the Cool Awards Top 50

Big Kahuna Imagineering has nailed a spot in Anthill's Top 50 as part of the online magazine's 2011 Annual Cool Company Awards. The national program developed in 2006 aims to recognise Australian companies doing things differently and working to bring about positive change.

The Sydney-based, model making company was nominated in the 'X-Factor' category.
Big Kahuna founder and managing director Will Colhoun said it was by definition a small company.
"But we do big things for some of the most recognisable brands in the world," he said. "Through our imagineering and creative realisation, we do our part to make those brands current, innovative and memorable. We think that’s pretty cool."

Bringing the imaginations of creatives across the arts, advertising and entertainment industries to fruition often involves conception to delivery. Big Kahuna believes it sets itself apart by not being afraid to take on never-been-done-before projects.

“What we’re trying to do here is not specialise,” Colhoun explains. “To specialise is highly business-minded. The coolest thing about this company is that we’re not here for profit’s sake alone. I’m not only operating commercially. We have artistic passion that runs through the veins of our business.”

Looking at us as individuals, would any one of us say we’re 'cool'? No, we’re actually quite nerdy. But, we do know cool stuff and we have the courage to do what many of our competitors are afraid to.”

Over 700 aspiring ‘cool companies’ were nominated for the 2011 awards, making ‘The Cools’ one of Australia’s largest business awards programs. The winners will be announced at an award’s function on Thursday 24 November 2011 and published on AnthillOnline.com.

“We’re very proud to be recognised for our work”, Colhoun said. “Big Kahuna Imagineering has been here for 10 years. Through all of the ups and downs, we still have faith that what we do is of distinction.”
