Brisbane agency BCM has announced a creative partnership with Artisan Gallery with the aim of building a new art gallery in BCM's Fortitude Valley premises. Named Crucible, construction begins this week led by architects Donovan Hill.
Tasha Finn has been appointed as Emerging Curator and will curate the four exhibitions per year on the gallery program. In additon BCM will host its own exhibitions and staff are encouraged to submit ideas and apply as guest curators.
BCM agency partner Paul Cornwell said he believed the gallery project to the first of its kind.
"We're really excited about broadening our creative perspective via this gallery and partnership with Artisan," he said.
As part of a long term creative partnership and in the interests of inspiring BCM staff, the gallery will also host Meet the Maker sessions where team members can meet artists over breakfast or drinks to learn more about their inspirations, creative process and ideas.
Agency partner Kevin Moreland said it would be a hub of creativity in the agency.
"We already have many bookings for the space," he said. "It will really foster idea generation and thought leadership."
Exhibits will range in nature from jewellery, furniture, lighting, glass, ceramics, fashion, textiles, paperware, leather goods, and interior products. Clients and visitors to the agency will be able to tour the gallery as well special events for students.
The BCM Crucible Gallery will launch officially in January 2012.
