The Spikes Asia Awards were held in Singapore last night. Australia did really well. So congrats to all the winners.
DDB Sydney won Agency of the Year. Host,
Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, JWT Melbourne and 303Lowe all won Grands Prix
gongs.
JWT Melbourne was one of the Grand Prix winners. Its WiFiction campaign scored the top gong in Direct. And JWT Asia Pacific won two Grand Prix, five Gold, four Silver and seven Bronze.
JWT Melbourne created WiFiction in response to Melbourne Writers Festival’s brief to make more stories readily accessible to the public. Executive creative director, Richard Muntz, made his excitement obvious, “We're humbled this work has been recognised at the highest level. WiFiction is truly a rare beast: a technology idea with a strong link to the campaign's strategy. It met head-on the client's objective of heightening awareness of the Melbourne Writer’s Festival amongst a younger audience."
WiFiction launched a new genre of storytelling at the Melbourne Writer’s Festival 2011. More than 65,000 attendees could access short stories – delivered via WiFi at the Festival’s hub in Federation Square – on their smart phone or iPad. Writers Festival attendees were directed to WiFiction via outdoor at the hub, the Festival website and cards placed in cafes around Melbourne. The WiFiction story list automatically appeared on smartphones and iPads in the list of WiFi networks when a person entered the hub.
