The Art Directors Club has expanded the Interactive category for the ADC 90th Annual Awards programs, which is open for entries.
The additions reflect a range of new digital tools, technologies and media that are starting to drive the latest interactive marketing campaigns and now warrant their own entry areas.
The changes include an expanded section for Mobile entries, addressing geo-location based tools and data visualization (such as infographics), as well as i-reader applications for iPad, Kindle, Nook and other similar devices, camera- or video-based tools, user interface UX (experience) and API (application programming interface).
The interactive Games section now provides separate entry for alternate reality experience, branded in-game experience and handheld games.
A separate Social Networks section has also been opened up, covering platforms, applications and innovation.
New Online Content subcategories now accommodate geo-location based tools, augmented reality and data visualization.
"The Art Directors Club sees the territory where consumers, creatives and clients interact is an ever-expanding landscape, and like any good farmer, we're rotating the crops and, on occasion, fertilizing certain areas such as digital," said Doug Jaeger, ADC president and cofounder/partner, JaegerSloan Inc, New York.
"As the club celebrates its milestone 90th year, we’ll continue to push boundaries in order to connect, provoke and elevate the industry."
Interactive jury chair for the ADC 90th Annual Awards is Will McGinness, partner, creative director, Venables Bell & Partners, San Francisco, CA. The deadline for Interactive entries is January 28, 2011.

Branded content is here to stay, that is for sure. So what does that mean for designers? Having a sponsor on board means that you have to create composite logos, which is quite challenging; essentially you need to create a logo that holds another logo.
