The paper conference show bag looks set to be thrown in the bin for good, following the launch of an interactive idea created by Sputnik Agency.
Targeting attendees of this year’s Australian Interactive Media Industry Association (AIMIA) Awards, the AIMIA Goodie Bag Website was developed to both encourage redemption and reflect the high standard of interactive work in Australia.
“The AIMIA Awards acknowledge digital excellence in Australia, so Sputnik was honoured to be selected to work with AIMIA to develop a solution that reinforced our positioning to attendees and event partners,” said Steve O’Farrell, managing director of Sputnik Agency.
“Traditionally the only show bags that are vaguely entertaining are the ones you get at the Royal Melbourne Show. The AIMIA conference show bag isn’t just fun, it’s also environmentally friendly, cost effective...and it won’t make you fat!”
Rather than providing website details at the event, an email was sent to attendees telling them they “left something behind” at the Awards night and requesting that they visit the online “lost and found department” via an email link.
With the help of AIMIA’s fictional lost and found attendant named “Bernie” – brought to life via complete video and flash integration by Sputnik - users were encouraged to scroll through the offers and select the ones they wanted to redeem. Offers then arrived shortly afterwards in the user’s inbox.
“We’re delighted with the digital solution that Sputnik developed, we’ve had some very positive feedback on the concept from event attendees and expect high redemption levels of our partner offers in the coming days,” said Cecilia Lindgren, commercial manager from AIMIA.
