2011 Global Awards for healthcare advertising Sydney gala

New York based International Awards Group and Australian healthcare professional group Bravo! have announced that the fourth annual Global Awards for healthcare advertising will be held in Sydney on 1 December at Simmer on the Bay at The Rocks.

The showcase of award-winning print and video work and award ceremony will be convened by the two organisations with additional representation from healthcare agencies and the Communications Council of Australia.

Michael O'Rourke, president of International Awards Group said the collaboration between The Global Awards and Bravo! had been a success over the last four years.
"Not only has it raised awareness for both organisations, but more importantly it has raised the bar in terms of creativity for the healthcare communications industry," he said.

Founding committee member of Bravo! and creative director at McCann Healthcare, Sydney, June Laffey said it was a world first event for Global award winners on home turf.
"It gives us the chance to congregate and motivate agency and clients to produce smart, crafted, creative work," she said. "This year we will be recognising our home-grown talent, with an event planned to be the most inspiring yet."

Four Australian agencies were recognised with five Global Awards in 2010 - McCann Healthcare, Sudler & Hennessey, Ursa and Ward6.

In addition to presenting the Global Awards, Bravo! will also present two special awards: The Brave Young Suit Award for emerging talent, and the Fearless Client Award in honor of clients who have supported great work.

Hugh Fitzhardinge, creative director at Ward6 and an annual Global Award judge in Sydney commented said the Bravo! event had become the Oscars of healthcare advertising in Australia.

"But more importantly it's about spreading a belief to everyone in the agencies and more importantly clients," he said. "The belief is (to borrow from someone more famous than me) that creativity isn't just a 'nice to have'.  It's one of the most powerful business tools in the world."
